I hate deer

We were away for two weeks, and in the interim, the deer ate everything.

Those vertical green stalks you see in the photos used to have interesting foliage, flowers, or just leaves, period, attached to them. I guess the De-Fence repellent I put on them suddenly and magically wore off sometime in the past 14 days. I was blind with rage for some minutes, but got over it.

August is not the prettiest time in the garden (I should do something about that) but the butterflies are wonderful. Saw our first monarch of this season’s migration on Saturday 8/16. Here are some pictures of the somewhat sad beds, though this is nothing compared to last year or the year before.
